PHYSICAL EDUCATION DAILY SELF-ASSESSMENT POLICY GRADES Students will receive a numerical grade at the end of each period. Students will assess themselves as a part of each class. Mr. Cunningham will also assess sporadically with both paper and skill rubrics. The grade can be a maximum of 5 points, and a minimum of 0 points. Mr. Cunningham will also give students grades if the student cannot provide a proper grade for that day. Feedback will be given daily and encouragement for a positive change if necessary. Middle School Students will have skill assessments along with self/peer rubrics at the end of each unit which will account for 20 points (50%) of that unit’s grade. Each unit is 6 to 8 classes in length.
Grade of 5 points: Positive demonstration of enthusiasm throughout P.E. Acceptable direction following Development of skill and improve fitness level Shows respect for self, others, and teacher (or substitute) Cooperates well with others and demonstrates impulse control Demonstrates Sportsmanship/positive attitude and effort Dressed properly (sneakers) and prompt in coming to class. Deduct one or more points for the following: Being inattentive/lack impulse control during teaching time P.E. Negative attitude and lacking effort Not following directions/unable to control impulses Inappropriate behavior towards others/self
Grade of 0: Repeat offenders (not changing) Disruptive/abusive behavior towards other students Bullying, ZERO TOLERANCE!
Mr. Cunningham realizes everyone has a bad day and a score of 3 or 4 OCCASIONALLY is OK. Each student is allowed to “forget” to be prepared for PE 1 time for every 2 months (5 for the year). MS students will have a locker for CLOTHING, DEODORANT, AND SNEAKERS ONLY!!!!
