 Hello, for those new to the site, I am Mike Cunningham (kids call me Mr. C) and have been teaching for 9 years, 8 of which have been here at SSDS. With an undergraduate degree in Health and Physical Education from Eastern Connecticut State University, and currently finishing up a Masters Degree in Exercise Science from Central Connecticut State University I have plenty of educational background that I hope to instill in your children. I have coached student-athletes for over 10 years from the youth level, to the high school level, winning a Girls Soccer State Championship (class M) in 2009 at Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford. I have played sports my whole life; basketball, baseball, soccer in high school, and baseball in college. In 2003, I was lucky enough to be a member of the Eastern Connecticut State University baseball team that won a National Championship. My passion for sport steered me into education the youth of America in hopes that they too can find success in being active and enjoying what they do. I recently found the love of my life and my beautiful wife and I we were married in November of 2011, she too shares the love for physical activity and also played softball in college. We both love hiking, we play on a co-ed soccer team together, biking, and running 1/2 marathons (haven't gone down the full marathon road yet). We are currently building a home in Higganum, CT. |
